Comments: We had the most wonderful stay with Vic and Diane. Nothing was too much trouble and the tour we had with Vic was informative and of course very interesting. Vic helped me discover a relative I didn't know I had and I managed to visit the grave site due to Vic letting me have his sat nav for the day. Looking forward to our next visit later this year and of course 2016, if we can get accommodation in the area. Thank you both very much.

Comments: Four of us had a wonderful day with Vic in Aug 2012. A comprehensive tour of the battlefields & memorials with, as requested, emphasis on the Australian contribution to rhe events of WW1. The tone for the day was set by Vic at the Theipval Visitor Centre with a description of the events leading up to the declaration of hostilities. Vivid scenes painted with his words throughout - if only our school history lessons had been constructed thus. Thank you for a great day - we will not hesitate to recommend to our friends.

Comments: Dear Vic and Diane, first time we have stayed with you and will definitely be back, Tom and I had a excellent day with Vic who's passion and knowledge shone throughout. We had a trip back to Mametz Wood and Death/ Happy Valley. Vic's passion and words got us into War Poetry which have been a welcome discovery. Loved the breakfasts and the excitement of going out into the battlefields in the mornings. Emailed Paul to thank him for sending us you way.
Best wishes for the adjoining site development. I see weekend following our visit Grimsby TFC got knocked out of the FA Cup whilst I think MTFC went through - hope my memory serves me correct and Vic had good trip to Caporetto.
Thank you and best wishes, Mike and Tom

Comments: We had 2 wonderful days, with Vic and Diane, staying in their lovely B&B, where every need was provided for, and more! The days were spent learning, and trying to understand everything about the Battles, and the conditions that our forebears fought in. Diane and Vic's knowledge is just endless, and we felt so priveleged to get to place poppies from "The National War Memorial, Canberra," at our great Uncle Eddie's Headstone at Sunken Road Cemetery. We had been shown where he fought, marched, and was killed, in great detail. Experiencing "The Last Post" at the Mennin Gate, Ypres, was a very moving moment, as was visiting the V museum at Villers-Bretonneux, where we were made so very welcome. It really was astounding to see the respect given, in Northern France, to the soldiers killed during the wars, and to see the number of beautifully maintained cemeteries, large and small, that are scattered everywhere, to honour all of those soldiers, equally. We certainly have a much different perspective, after having such great Guides, for whom nothing was too much trouble. Thanks for that, Vic and Diane...the best part of our month in France.

Comments: We had an outstanding tour of the Somme battlefields and memorials with you in September. We and my sister and brother in law from the U.K.thought that the service you provided to us was outstanding. you provided a particularly well balanced and knowledgeable account of the events and background of the Somme conflict, while not conceiling your passion for the subject. Thanks very much Vic we would not hesitate to recommend to anyone the excellent experience you provided.

Comments: Dear Diane and Vic. We have just this afternoon finished your superb Battlefield tour and were very keen to jump on your site to tell you and others about the fantastic experience you offer. I would recommend it to people who are keen enthusiasts, those searching for relatives and also to those who are just curious about WW1 history. Its lovely country side and your b&b and hospitality are fantastic. Good luck with your future plans.

Comments: We really enjoyed our recent stay at Les Alouettes. Vic and Diane's enthusiasm for military history is really infectious and like us, once you walk the battlefields with experienced guides such as Vic and Diane you will never forget the sacrifice of so many thousands of young servicemen who endured such conditions as we cannot even begin to imagine.
Since our recent visit I am unable to watch documentaries on WW1/2 without shedding more than a few tears.
Les Alouettes B&B is extremly comfortable and fascinating in equal measure. I know that I shall return as there are so many WW1 sites nearby which we have yet to visit, also we miss our excellent hosts Vic and Diane!.
Many thanks.
Simon and Mary.
